Truly a unique and rare gemstone. Unheated Tanzanite

This batch of tanzanite (along with the larger stones also available) is some of the most intriguing and eye catching rough I have seen available. Mined in the Mererani Hills in Northen Tanzania, this unheated Tanzanite exhibits both trichroism and colour zoning. They cut into gems that show a virtual kaleidoscope of colour. If you prefer, heat in a kiln will usually normalize the colour zoning and leave a purple/teal dichroic stone. These stones have some cob marks and inclusions towards the outer of the stone, but they will all cut out.
